Amb. Wang Jinfeng Meets with Secretary-General of the International Seabed Authority Leticia Carvalho

On 29 January 2026, Amb. Wang Jinfeng, China’s Permanent Representative to the International Seabed Authority (ISA), met with Ms. Leticia Carvalho, Secretary-General of ISA.

Secretary-General Carvalho expressed her sincere appreciation to the Chinese Government for its long-standing support for the work of ISA, and highly commended China for its consistent constructive engagement in international seabed affairs and its important role in deep-sea exploration, environmental protection and scientific research. ISA stands ready to continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation with China.

Amb. Wang stated that China attaches great importance to international seabed affairs and firmly supports ISA in actively fulfilling the responsibilities and obligations entrusted to it under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. China advocates giving equal emphasis to development and protection, promotes the sustainable utilization of deep-sea resources, and works toward building a more just and equitable international deep-sea governance system.
